NEW
I'll never forget buying our house and all the emotion and worry involved, have you been through the same?!  Imagine, if you could try out the property for a month, or even a year before making up your mind? Get a feeling of how the light falls, the layout, the neighbourhood. Now that would be something. Enter Nooks. A Stockholm based property business offers a range of apartments to rent...with the option of buying after a period of time (should you want to call the space your home permanently). Genius! Personally, I'd be happy to give this apartment a whirl. It looks super relaxed, full of light and has views over the rooftops of Stockholm. What do you reckon?

The first picture's a bit baffling.... did you spot the illusion?!

Get the look: wishbone chairs, rattan chair, source a vintage suitcase here, I love this selection of vintage moroccan rugs.

Other homes with a colourful boho vibe include one of my all time favourites - a swedish home with black floors and the happy home of a Dutch illustrator.

Have a great start to the week!

Summer's in full swing here in Scandinavia and there's nowhere I'd rather be ('there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing' - I hear in Finland it was 11 degrees yesterday - brrrrr!). One particular home in Norway is making full use of being in the land of  the glorious midnight sun. Photographer Elisabeth Heier, who's lovely home I've previously featured here, here and here (yes, I love her style), recently shared pictures of her terrace, ready for long suppers al fresco with family and friends. I love the delicate touches of wild summer flowers indoors too. Perfect inspiration for the weekend, don't you think?!

Source: Elisabeth Heier, with kind permission.

Oh so lovely! It's amazing what you a difference you can make with a handful of pretty wild flowers from the garden.

Do you have a favourite flower?

Get the look from Elisabeth's home:

Terrace - Elisabeth laid the table on the terrace with Broste Copenhagen dinnerware, fresh white napkins, and flowers picked from the garden and arranged in little vases in various heights and shapes.

Bedroom - The back wall is painted in 1269 Demring (Lady Pure Color) from Jotun. Also featured -  milk lamp, beige stonewashed linen bedding, and Flowerpot lamp. Flower weave rug.

Front of stairs - marble table lamp.  Hallway - &tradition mass light (I also love this marble hanging light), Henrik Rasmussen vase.

Hallway - LIND DNA tray, Swing clothes hanger.

And before I head off, here's a little weekend link love:

I love the idea of designing a room around a painting (this is also a great example!).

Go big (or go home) with botanicals this season.

Two ways to see Italy - would you choose this or this?

This cute baby blanket has got over 35,000 repins on Pinterest (I can totally see why, can you?!)

That's the cake solved for Saturday afternoon tea (and Sunday)- nom nom nom!I'd need to recover on this Safari daybed / terrace afterwards - bliss!

And finally, the world's best beaches....just cos.

Have a wonderful weekend, see you Monday!

I have to say Pinterest is one of my favourite social medias - one huge site full of interior inspiration, recipes and travel ideas - what's not to love?! Such is my avid use (some sceptics would say addiction) I was recently named a Power pinfluencer. But even I didn't realise the extent of my pinning until I noticed that today I will have posted over 10,000 pins across my (56) Pinterest boards - that's a lot of pinning, even by my standards! I thought it would be fun to take a look back at my top ten most popular pins ever. I'm particularly loving the last one - it goes to show we're kindred spirits!

1. This green wall in a Swedish apartment caught everyone's eye!

2. We're all loving the idea of this Paris bolt hole.

3. I'm not sure if it's the puddy cat or the extremely cosy Finnish home, or most likely both?!

4. One Swedish apartment, two different ways.

5. It seems creating an urban jungle is high up on everyone's list, and we're taking inspiration from Marij Hessel's plant display.

6. Walk in wardrobe, organised corner or a fab hallway - either way, we all loved this arrangement in the home of a Norwegian blogger.

7. A firm favourite bedroom (and one of my top posts of all time too - who doesn't love Holly Marder's Dutch boudoir?!

  8. Dream tub?!

9. Or perhaps an outdoor shower is more your thing (if only the Danish cottage came with it!)?!

10. And finally....

 No words, just the recipe.

What do you think, can you see why these pins were so popular?!
 Have a lovely day!

PS Loved reading all your comments about yesterday's all white apartment - so interesting, thank you!

I know Scandinavian homes are synonymous with white, and yesterday's home was pretty white, but the interior designer behind this Swedish apartment has taken things to a whole new level! The floors, walls, furnishings, just about everything - is white! This isn't perhaps a very realistic way to live - as someone once commented here on the blog - 'own a rubiks cube and your stuffed'?! The home has of course been staged for sale through Fantastic Frank - sometime ago) but it's still inspiring in many ways - for example look at the difference a simple cream blanket makes on crisp white linen sheets - so calming. The kitchen is also lovely with a touch of dark wood and black. I guess the key question is, how white would you go?!

Stylist - Thomas Lindsell  Photography - Emily Laye / Fantastic Frank

I could definitely go for that all white bedroom - so peaceful! How about you?

Get the look - Pick up beautiful stone washed white linen bedding here. This vintage off white blanket is similar - If sold (hurry, there's only one!) I also love this chunky Ecru blanket - it would look so pretty against white sheets.

I have to admit, I have a real weakness for white. One of my friends had an all white wedding and all the guests wore it - it was such a beautiful wedding! I also love the white wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses at this rustic barn wedding (any excuse to indulge in a little wedding photography - and this bohemian wedding does look so romantic (and moving)?!

Other white, white, white homes include this serene home of a designer (love the courtyard) and a calm swedish apartment. And (yes, you guessed it) I have an entire archive dedicated to white homes - this is a Scandinavian Home blog after all! Scroll passed the first home as it will be this one.

 Have a lovely, calm day!

I've never been much of a morning person (understatement), but lately I've been setting my alarm eye-wateringly early so I can get a few hours work in before the rest of the family wake-up. For example this morning my alarm went off at 5.30 just so I could take my youngest to her tennis camp at 9 and watch in a manner verging on chilled! But I've actually found that once my eyes no longer feel like sand paper (yes, I'm ridiculous!), there's another (secret) surprise for early-risers - the beautiful morning light. Our home (and cottage) looks completely different in the small hours. And it's this light which drew me to this Swedish apartment today. The abbreviated monochrome palette allows the soft pools of light to take centre stage, while touches of wood (in the floor and furniture) adds to the over all warmth of the space. Lovely!

Kvarteret Mkleri found via Coco Lapine with thanks.

So simple, yet so lovely. And the unique pieces are a feast for the eye too...

....which brings me to a few items I know and love: sitting room - Gubi semi pendant light, white table lamp, string shelves. Study / bedroom -&tradition flowerpot pendant light, cross blanket (I also love this one).

If you're loving this look and fancy a little more monochrome inspiration today, there are over 100 black and white homes in this archive.....(if this comes up first just scroll passed).

And hey, why not - a few other links I absolutely love from around the web today:

There's something beautiful about the 'country evening' post (again, it's that light!).

I quite fancy a blissful night's sleep (or nap) behind this curtain.

7 beautiful bedrooms with grey walls.

Where I'd like to be. In my new favourite Danish bikini cover-up.

I can't stop looking at this wildlife photo....?

Have a wonderful day!

PS is it time for a siesta yet?!

I hope you're having a great start to the week? It's the Swedish holidays here and I'm writing this from my husband's family's summer cottage (love being here, it's so great to get a change of scenery). I bought several magazines on my way up - The Way We Play (TWWP) - beautiful - and Elle Decoration Sweden (a long term favourite). Online, Swedish interior magazines often host a clutch of fab bloggers, of which Elle Decoration has a great line-up. Their latest recruit is DIY extroadinaire Helena Nord. By way of introduction Helena invited readers into her home in Stockholm, which she shares with her partner and two children. Helena is an artist and designer and partner of En Form av Nord which holds creative workshops in DIY and photography among other things.  Helena's beautiful home is pared-back with soft grey-green tones and a wonderful mix of textures, creating a rich contrast. Let's take a tour....

Source: photography Helena Nord, Elle Decoration.

A few items I love in Helena's home: sitting room - stonewashed white linen bedding, jute rug, I love this and this plant pot. Bedroom- rustic stool, white linen curtain (lovely!). Studio - Beni Ourain rug. Children's room: Helena shows how she created the wall here.

Three DIY tips from Helena (in Swedish but often with a picture guide):

Using newspaper clips for framed art.
DIY art
And one for the kids - how to make an elephant out of loo rolls.

You can also keep up to date with Helena's latest projects on instagram here

And a couple of my favourite, incredibly simple DIY ideas from the MSH archives: a cloud doormat, go dotty at home and update a wall in an instant!

What a great way to kick off the week?

PS I am looking for a couple of homes (apartments, houses, cabins) to photograph next week in West Norway and West Finland. If you have any tips at all I'd be so grateful if you could send me a mail - thank you soooo much!
