I'm feeling inspired by dilapidated walls after my trip to Florence at the weekend. Which is probably why these beautiful images taken in Marienlyst Castle, just North of Copenhagen caught my eye (I love how sections of the paneling have been removed to reveal the original brickwork beneath). The Danish 'slot' formerly served as a royal pavilion for Kronborg Castle (think Shakespeare's 'Hamlet'). The monochrome interior is simple yet elegant with period features and original floors that give the entire space an oh so romantic feel, don't you think? No wonder Danish homewares brand Tine K Home chose it as a setting for their Autumn / Winter 2016 collection - which is inspired by the pale colours found in bouquets of flowers and greenery and how the hues change as they mature (*she sits there dreaming*). Oh the romance of it all. Enjoy!

Simply lovely! And such a mid-week treat?!

Most of the items you see are from Tine K Home (visit the online shop here) and some exciting pieces from the forthcoming Autumn / Winter 2016 collection, which gives us all something to look forward to when the leaves start to fall?! You can also check-out the complete catalogue here.

Is there anything that caught your eye?

Other mid week links I love:

Rijksmuseum.ixxi thinks it's important that collections from prominent museums become accessible to the many. When you see this masterpiece in a cute children's bedroom I think you'll agree?! Pick up your own masterpiece here

This artichoke flower arrangement.

Bedside table inspiration.

Tonight's supper:  firey schezwan peanut and chilli zucchini noodles.

Pretty peach coloured house by the sea.  Imagine waking up here? And where I'd love to be right now.

Have a dreamy day

PS This was not a sponsored posts, I just loved the imagery and thought it had to be shared!

Sorry for the late post today. It's Swedish national day and we've been out for a few days on the island of Ven among other spots in the resund. I was planning on posting this morning but my computer decided it was going to indulge in a little 'maniana' lifestyle of its own! So there wasn't much I could do other than enjoy the sunshine and swimming (this is my girls in the sea at 9pm last night!) - not such a tough choice after all! So here I am, back at my desk (more sun kissed than before, but ready to go!). I thought I'd start the week with a Danish apartment in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen designed by the talented Karen Maj Kornum of Another Ballroom. I love the milky, soft tones paired with flashes of orange, red and golden yellow. Shall we take a peek?

Interior & styling Karen Maj Kornum. Photography: Katrine Rohrberg

The floorboards, high ceilings and period features are just lovely - and so typical of buildings from that part of town.

If you'd like a similar look - Another Ballroom stocks many of the items you see. You can also try these places: beni ourain rug, boucherouite rug, wishbone chair, By lassen candleholder, leather camping stool.

I promise to be back tomorrow at the usual time with a very exciting home tour! Until then, have a great start to the week!

Today I thought we'd step inside the fascinating Copenhagen home and studio of Danish photographer Ditte Isager, which she shares with her husband Christian, and little son, Wilder. The space has unexpected looks around every corner - including a cosy sitting room with dark green walls, a calm dining room in muted tones and a modern work studio made entirely from wood (connected to the house via a repurposed staircase).  The home has been decorated with a wonderful mix of Danish classics, vintage finds and items collected on travels.  Let's take a tour!

Photography: Ditte Isager (shared with kind permission). Found via Goop and La Maison D'Anna G with thanks.

Although the entire space is pretty fabulous the studio really stands out to me. I love that they've successfully combined it with a guest house / place for the kids to hang out. Is there anything that stands out to you?

Get the look: Sitting room - F&B paint, Arne Jacobsen chair. Kitchen: the cabinets are bespoke - try IKEA's MRSTA for similar. This vintage industrial kitchen island is similar (and lovely!). Dining room: Ochre chandelier. Bathroom: Gubi table lamp. Studio: made using Dinesen douglas pine, series 7 swivel chair, source a vintage industrial stool here.

Read more about Ditte's lovely home over at Goop.

If you fancy  a little more er, great Dane style today you might want to take a peek inside my Danish home archive....which includes homes such as the cool Copenhagen apartment of a typographer and the fabulous home of an interior designer....I know, I know. Those Danes know what they're doing!

Have a lovely day!

PS The winner of the Scandinaviaform vase from Blackthumb has now been announced here (*holding thumbs* as they say in Sweden!).

Hello! I hope you had a great weekend and feel all ready for the week ahead (although, does anyone else find that Tuesday feels like the real start of the week i.e. when you're actually ready to get anything done?!). Today I'd rather take it easy and muse over this beautiful Danish space. Located in Denmark and captured by Birgitta Wolfgang Drejer, I love the way the space is fairly minimalist and pared-back and yet lovely and relaxed. It helps that the apartment has beautiful high ceilings, herringbone floors and large rooms too!  Let's take a tour....

I especially loved the children's room (I like how it looks 'loved and lived in' in these pictures, so refreshing?!). Did you notice that little collection of hats too?! This room's going straight to my children's inspiration Pinterest board

Is there anything that stood out to you?

Get the look: Eames chairs, vintage demijohns in lovely blues and greens, pom poms, sheepskin throw, vintage school chair, Loom + Field sells Moroccan wedding blankets (seen on bed) as well as other beautiful things.

I'm still reeling just a little from Friday's post. And I was soooo happy that Cathy Pyle could tell us a little more about the owner / interior designer on Instagram over the weekend. It makes me realise what a great online network we all have!

Have a lovely day!

PS Thank you so much to everyone who entered the Orchard Jewelry give-away over the weekend. The winner has been announced here. There's more good news - the team are offering all readers 10% off any item in the shop until 1st June, 2016 (simply enter the code MSH01 at checkout).  See more inspiration here. Perfect!

Hi, I'm Johanne from Scandinavian Love Song and I'm really happy to be writing a guest post here on My Scandinavian Home blog while Niki is on holiday. I recently quit my job as a communication worker at a fancy art museum to pursue my dream of becoming an interior stylist - a bit daunting, but also very exciting! For the past 2,5 years, my husband and I have lived in this three room apartment in the Danish city, Aalborg. When we bought the apartment, it definitely needed a lot of TLC, so we have practically renovated every single part of the place and are very happy with the result. Niki has previously been so kind to show pictures of our home here on the blog (see right here), but since my husband and I will be moving to another Danish city in a couple of months, I take every opportunity I can to share more pictures of the apartment as I'm truly going to miss it. I have especially come to love our combined kitchen/dining/living room/workspace and we spend most of our time here. I will let the pictures speak for themselves, but if you have any questions, I will make sure to answer them in the comment field :-)

Thanks again, Niki, and enjoy your vacation!

Johanne.

PS Niki will be back again tomorrow with a fab home tour, so don't forget to stop by!

Hello! I hope you had a wonderful weekend? So, we arrived in Sri Lanka. A little jet-lagged. But wow, what a place! This is our room for a few days. Heaven! I'll certainly be posting a few images on instagram here and there. As promised I'll still be blogging, and will also be featuring some guest posts from some of my favourite bloggers over the weeks too. Despite sitting a few metres from the beach (sorry, too much?!), I'm whisking myself back to Scandinavia and inside this super simple and elegant Copenhagen apartment captured by Birgitta Wolfgang Drejer. The space features the most beautiful parquet floors, high ceilings and period features. The decor is pared-back - with a mix of vintage and designer items and some fabulous artwork. What a beautiful space, don't you think?

The ceiling height gives the space such elegance, and the light, oh the light?!

Get the look: this mid-century coffee table is similar, Le Corbusier armchair, Togo sofa, source a similar vintage industrial pendant light here. Nespresso espresso maker, rustic bench.

Other links from around the web today:

I'm loving these low v-back tops right now (and that bun?)

Another good reason to visit Antwerp one day.

A Brooklyn home which looks way bigger than it is.

5 fab interior design blogs from France (I'd also add La Maison D'Anna G and Unfinished Home).

This bathroom window display (that linen blind). Try not perfect linen for similar.

Have a great start to the week!

Hello! My girls were so excited to wake up to a fresh layer of snow this morning. They were outside with their toboggans before I was even dressed! And the sun's shining too - yay! Before I head out to join them and their little rosy cheeks I wanted to share these lovely images by Danish brand Hbsch. The different spaces show off elements of the collection. Think natural materials such as rattan, sea grass and bamboo, soft cotton and pretty ceramics. Oh to have high ceilings and bay windows. Plus I've got my eye on that daybed....

Photos:Hbsch Found via House of C with thanks.

So pretty! The throws and cushions look so lovely and soft don't you think?

Nearly all of the items you see here can be found through Hbsch stockists. However, I'm also loving this fabulous peacock chair (it's really similar to the one in my bedroom) these bamboo folding chairs and a soft grey herringbone throw.

I'm really not joking about the daybed. I've been toying with the idea of exchanging my bubble chair (seen behind my vintage drinks trolley in these pics) for a relaxed daybed (inspired by Elisabeth Heier's window nook here) - what do you think? Would I ever leave it?

Other Danish homes I love include the Copenhagen home of a typographer and a Danish home with a warm soul.

And what do you think of this fabulous cabin?! How I could see myself there right now, how about you?

Oh and exciting news! The pre-order system for my book Modern Pastoral is now live - so exciting! If you are interested in pre-ordering a copy through the My Scandinavian Home Bookshop please click the 'pre-order now' button in the top left of this blog page and follow the instructions. If you'd like a signed copy please send a mail to myscandinavianhome@gmail.com along with your order confirmation, I'd love to hear from you!

Right, off to enjoy the snow with my girls...have a lovely day!
